The ideas behind Learning Works Charter School in Pasadena, California seem quite foreign to me.  This is a school with a specialty.  And its specialty is searching for and finding kids who did not graduate from high school and getting them to return and graduate.

Mikala Rahn is an education researcher and the driving force behind this two year old school that enrolls about 300 students.  Through research she discovered that “24.3 percent of Pasadena Unified School District high schoolers do not graduate.”
