Kids Helping Themselves And Their Community
I don’t know about you, but there are days I just don’t want to read the paper or look at the local news. It seems like it’s just one story after another about bad things happening. A Promise for the Future

Health care focused high school opens its doors
On September 1, 2010 the Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy in Chicago welcomes its first class of about 160 freshmen. The Instituto is a charter school aimed at getting high school students ready to enter the medical field. Currently the Chicago area has openings for over 3, 000 registered nurses and the hope is that a school such as this will serve as a potential employment pool.
There are many other openings in the health care field as well such as physical therapists and pharmacists. This is an attempt to revitalize less privileged neighborhoods. It is part of Chicago’s Renaissance 2010 which will open 100 schools of this sort.
